New parent tours for September 2025 starters

We will be holding new parent tours for children due to start school in September 2025 during the Autumn term 2024. Please keep an eye on this page for the available dates and how to book on one of these tours - this information will be updated by 18th September.

The Local Education Authority Admissions Team at West Sussex County Council deal with all admissions to our school and can be contacted on 03330 142 903 or by e-mail at admissions.north@westsussex.gov.uk.  Admissions appeals are also managed by West Sussex County Council.

The school follows the Local Education Authority’s policy and arrangements for admission, common to all Community schools in West Sussex.

Children who are seven years old by the 31st of August transfer to junior school at the start of the autumn term. The majority of the children from Hassocks Infant School transfer to The Windmills Junior School, which shares a site in Dale Avenue with Downlands Community School.

Staring School in September 2025 information:

The application process for children due to start school in September 2024 will open at 9am on Monday 7th October 2024.  West Sussex County Council do not send individual letters to parents and carers but advertises the application arrangements widely, including on social media. If your child attends an Early Year's setting or pre-school they will be able to provide you with further information on the process.

As in recent years, parents and carers are being encouraged to apply for their child’s school place using the online system at West Sussex Admissions. Applications must be submitted by the national closing date of Wednesday 15th January 2025.

Transferring to Junior school in September 2025 information:

If your child is currently in Year 2 and is due to transfer to junior school in September 2025 the application process will open at 9am on Monday 7th October 2024. 

You are encouraged to apply online here. Applications must be submitted by the national closing date of Wednesday 15th January 2025. If you do not have the internet at home, free internet access has been arranged for everyone completing an application at all libraries and Children and Family Centres within West Sussex.
