Purple Mash Curriculum

Reception Curriculum: 

Reception classes regularly use laptops to develop their understanding of how and why we use computers in our day-to-day lives. This is alongside using and exploring a range of technology throughout the curriculum in the classroom provision as well as through other areas of learning, such as Knowledge and Understanding of the World. Reception children learn about online safety as part of their RSE curriculum. The computing skills they introduce are: 

  • Mouse and trackpad skills
  • Keyboard Skills
  • Drawing Skills
  • Robots (coding)
  • Sounds 
  • Images (photography)

Key Stage 1 Curriculum (Years 1 & 2):

In KS1children have computing sessions which cover a range of skills and develop children's awareness and understanding of online safety.   

Areas covered within the computing curriculum in Year 1 are: 

  • Online safety
  • Grouping and sorting
  • Pictograms
  • Maze Explorers
  • Animated story books 
  • Coding

  • Coding
