PTA - Friends of Hassocks Infant School (FoHIS)

FoHIS (Friends of Hassocks Infant School)

FoHIS is a team of parents that organise events throughout the year with the combined aims of raising extra funds for the school as well as social events for the parents and children attending the school, raising around £12,000 a year.

Following the last AGM meeting, held in the Autumn term 2024, the main Officers were voted in as follows:

Chair – Caroline Stevenson

Treasurer – Katie Waddington

Secretary – Hannah Potter

Over the last few years, FoHIS have raised a tremendous amount of money, which has allowed the school to extend our resources, help fund playground equipment, classroom resources and Forest School.

Since 2012, FoHIS has donated 10% of its fundraising efforts each year to the Madagascar Development Fund, which aims to improve healthcare and education facilities and reduce poverty in Madagascar.

In 2024 there was construction of a three classroom primary school at Ambohibato, complete with classroom furniture and latrines. As often happens the parents of a significant number of school age children, who were not in education, were so impressed by the beautiful new school that they made sacrifices and decided after all to register them there. The Head Teacher was able to accommodate some of the new children, but needed additional classroom furniture to fit them in. FoHIS were able come to the rescue and helped to buy four, locally made, three seater school benches.
